Location Description:
The Hotel Del Coronado sits on 33 oceanfront acres in San Diego Bay and is truly a beautiful and luxurious hotel. The ghost of Kate Morgan is said to haunt the hotel. The story goes that she was married to a gambler and they worked together to fleece card players. When Kate became pregnant she wanted to settle down, but her husband didn`t. In 1892 she went to the Del Coronado to wait for him as prearranged, but he didn`t show up. She was found on the beach, dead from a shot in the head. I have read and seen (on TV shows) varying accounts including her trying to self abort and then killing herself, finding her husband with another woman and shooting herself, and her husband arriving at the hotel and he shoots her. However her life ended, her spirit continues to haunt the hotel`s room 3312. Problems with the phone and TV are the most prevalent manifestations. Also haunted is room 3205 in which curtains have been seen to billow when no windows are open, and "phantom noises" have been heard

In the 1892, a young pregnant woman by the name of Kate Morgan Checked into a room at the hotel. Its said that she was waiting there for her husband with the intention of telling him about the pregnancy. She waited all day and night for him, but he never showed. The next morning, Kate was found dead on the steps leading from the hotel to the beach. She had been shot in the head. It was initially thought to be a suicide, but other theories have come about suggesting that Kate was murdered.
The reasons for Kate`s death are unknown, but what most people seem quite sure of is that the room she stayed in that night is haunted. The room Kate checked into was room 302, now room 3312. This room has experienced oddly functioning electrical equipment (lights turning on and off, etc) and cold breezes. Maids report that objects are moved around by unseen hands. Guests who have been brave enough to stay in the room have experienced oppressive feelings and curtains that move even though the windows are closed. Other people swear they have heard murmurings coming from somewhere in the room. Kate`s ghost has been seen walking down hallways of the hotel and standing at windows.
Room 3502 has a history of its own. Apparently, the maid who was living there during Kate`s stay may have become friends with Kate. What is known is that the day after Kate`s funeral, the maid disappeared. There is some speculation that whoever possibly killed Kate may have killed the maid as well. One story even theorizes that when hotel staff found the maid`s body, they surreptitiously removed it so as not to further upset the guests. Room 3502 has experienced many similar paranormal happenings as Kate`s room.
