Actually, this place is called the Hangman`s Tree, and it`s a bar. There is a mannequin hanging by a noose on the side of the restaurant, which is commonly commented on by tourists. My uncle used to work there, and he told a story of closing up one night, and having the only key, and returning the next day to find all of the art on the walls hung backwards. weeeieiiird...

Well, the owners of the Hangman's Tree Bar took down the hanging man from the front of the building (which should have been against the law since it was such a landmark!) and moved out of the building because it needed to be renovated, so you can no longer go in to investigate the haunted place.  It was the site for the first hangman's tree in Old Hangtown, so has a great deal of paranormal activity, including full apparition sightings by many people... some of whom might have been inebriated at the time!   The original tree stump is reportedly still in the basement, but I have not personally seen it to varify that claim. This one of the few buildings in town that I have not investigated, but there have been many reported ghost/spirit sightings and strange going ons reported by others.
