Rock-A-Dundee Road is a popular attraction in Western Massachusetts that calls to the attention of much of the younger population. It is located in Hampden, Massachusetts (Hampden County) and is a popular location for parties. For a while now, legends and rumors have been spreading around that the road itself and the forest between Rock-A-Dundee and Howlett Hill Roads are haunted. Forty years ago, this road didn't exist and was part of the forest.
Popular legend says that a crazy woman lived in that forest, and if anyone came anywhere near her living quarters, she would chase them away with a hatchet. This happened during the '60s, therefore, it is the spirit of the woman who chases people away. Her husband had passed away a couple years before she did. I believe her grave is in the cemetary on your way up there.
There were 10 teenagers that had gone up there and killed themselves all in a row. if you look carefully you can still see the actual ropes used thay are known as the "The Rockadundee Spirits".
It is also said that about 5-10 years ago, a specific spot on the road used to be a bus stop. One day, a little boy named Jared got off the bus and was then hit by it. A gazebo was then built there, and there is a rock in the area of the gazebo that reads "Our Bus Stop". It is said that the gazebo is now haunted by the ghost of Jared.(fact:i ahve traveled this road many times i have some pics i will post up...... Jared does haunt the gazebo but he will also get on the back of your truck if you drive one.. when you get off the road check your bed tarp like i said if u have one for finger prints.)
There is a ghost car that haunts this location as well a man driving an older pick up truck will follow you down the road for a good 10 15 minutes and then will disappear. his face is very eerie.
Also the lake is haunted by a girl who drowned one summer while in summer camp. if you stop at the lake look out into the middle of the lake you will see a black figure standing above water. if not she is around that one area. may be on a rock or someting else. i have caught her face in a tree.......
