Location Description:

This Hotel was built in the early 1900's not sure about the history but the two wings had burnt down twice from fires. It is being used by the Navy as the Naval Postgraduate School's main building. I worked there for public works and always hated having to work in there. The Navy converted all the rooms into offices. I was posting signs late one night and I know I was the only one in the building. I was walking down a hall and at the end saw a black figure walk by the end like going up the stairs. I ran after to see who was there and couldnt find anybody up there. I searched then went down stairs and asked the guard if anyone had come in. He said I was the only person there. Another time I was working in the ballroom and out of knowhere I hear music. I looked around and it went right away. I didnt think anything of it then I mentioned it to some other workers and they said it was common to hear wierd things in there.

we watched a short presentation disclosing how people had died in the building, which first opened in 1880. Also, John Sanders -- the special collections manager at the NPS Dudley Knox Library -- was giving us a tour of the building while sharing stories about encounters that military officers, spouses and housekeepers have had with paranormal activity during their time there. According to Sanders, each year there are many reports of paranormal activity -- including strange sounds, smells, lights and other electronics turning on and off by themselves and full-body apparitions.
