A huge and lovely Harvey House from 1911, this so-far empty building and former hotel has got to be one of the most haunted in Barstow, if not the High Desert.
If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of Rachel, a 20's-era Harvey Girl, not to mention a throng of spirits, some of whom are thought to be transient given that this is still an active train depot.
Tours are available through Haunted Barstow Ghost Tours. You will not be disappointed.
Check out Haunted Barstow.
My husband and I are lucky enough to have been part of the very first Haunted Barstow tour which, thanks to the Barstow Chamber of Commerce, was allowed to tour the whole building (it is not normally open to the public). Lots of emotional "happenings", cold spots (very very noticable since the power and AC were off, causing the place to be extremely warm), and tons of strange pictures captured with our Kodak digital cameras. (Will be uploading later.)
This was the first ghost tour we have ever done, wasn't sure what to expect (I was nervous) and although our eyes didn't see anything, you could definitely sense that there is something special about this place.
Pure ghostly fun, well worth it!!
