Location Description:         
 

Built in 1923, the John Muir elementary school operated for 30 years before being converted to a youth center. It was also used as storage by the city of Modesto. Workers working in the basement in recent times often heard the voices and thundering feet of children. The workers would run up the stairs only to find empty halls. The school was also attended by Modesto`s favorite native son, George Lucas.

A fire recently heavily damaged the old building. Currently, it is unknown if the building can be saved.

I have seen this old building. It is right next to the cemetary and the only thing separating the two is a fence.

I passed by this building this morning and it looks like the building has been through a fire. It looks even more creepy than it did before.

Its been torn down as of the first week of Feb 2008.

I went here just a few days ago and it is not torn down yet. It is surounded by fence so you can't get into it.

There is nothing left here, but an empty lot. We did an investigation, but nothing was found. Anything that had been here seems to be gone.
