Location Description:

On a winding dirt road next to the Rogue River called Friske, there is a small turnaround for no particular reason. On this turnaround, there is a trail that leads off a ways into the woods. If you follow the trail, it leads to an old iron bridge called Hell's Bridge. It is said that if you are sitting or standing on the bridge at midnight you can hear the devil laughing. The reason is, in the 1800's, when Algoma didn't really exist and Rockford was known as Laphamville, a man named Elias Friske murdered several children and claimed a demon made him do it. Later the bodies were found in the part of the river where the bridge is now. Sometimes you can also hear the children crying, @r the noise of splashing water where their bodies were thrown. Some fishermen in the early morning have reported seeing a strange figure near the bridge...

charmed1j Online Now!	Checked this out on 3/17/07. "bridge" area flooded, however this "bridge seems to be nothing more than rumor. I saw what appeared to be a small iron footpath bridge, that I believe is supposed to be raised above flood plain. It isnt. If there is another bridge further back in the wood, I will find it this summer. But at this time, I believe this one to be a hoax. I am furthering my investigation of this area by visiting the local library to find out if the "Elias Friske" murderer really even existed.

windexba Online Now!	I have been to this bridge during the day and night. There is no other bridge further back in the woods, that iron footpath is the brige in the story. It looks really dinky and funny, but there is something there. My friend and i sat on the bridge for a while, then took pictures. There were some wierd things that turned up. There is a glowing red orb in one of the pictures.

AnonymousVisiter R -	My girl and I JUST got back from there. We saw a dead deer, about 8 people with flashlights and laughing, and no ghost. All around creepy if the people wouldn't have been there. Specially since our little flashlight went out halfway back from the bridge.

AnonymousVisiter ** -	I was there last night with some friends. We got there before dusk and hung out a while. Started sitting quietly on the bridge around dusk. Got some interesting looking orbs in pictures taken around then. We started getting weird feelings on the far side of the bridge after nightfall. Two more random visitors showed up around 10 PM. When we all went to leave shortly after that the visitors' car was totally covered in mud with no tire tracks or recent footprints near it.

AnonymousVisiter ** -	i and four friends went to hells bridge on devils night in 2008. it was active, trust me. my friend wound up with a rope burn around his neck like he was hung and we had to leave early. it was a terrible night because it was so active and all of us have been ghost hunting numerous time before so it wasnt like we were n00bs to it. if you are seriously considering on going, go on a clear night. and be careful. there's something out there.

AnonymousVisiter	its real easy to get there...take 131 to rockford/10mile rd go east to the marathon gas station turn right follow that to friske turn right follow that to a turn around walk the trail through the woods to the bridge....nothing spectacular.....i walked n stood on the bridge at midnight with a full moon n taunted and nothing happened no spirits no screams from children spirits nuthin but the sound of the river...not to mention the bridge doesnt look that old
