Location Description:

The owners have an outside annual Halloween bonfire. The house is extremely creepy looking, the owners are trying to restore the mansion. It is now condemned by the city of Alton, so you cannot go inside the mansion. There is a lot of history and unexplained things that go on here. geisergirl Last Seen: 1/16/2008 8:06:42 PM	The picture I attached is when I went to the McPike mansion on a haunted tour. If it allows you to make it bigger you will see a figure of a man leaning against the door frame.

I was raised in the Alton area and the McPike Mansion was quite a late night attraction to teenage adventure seekers. There were several times my friends and I were actually running from the house..... Check it out.

Dazed_Confused88 Last Seen: 1/30/2008 4:34:23 AM	I have met the owners, and been allowed on the grounds, beyond the Halloween party they have. I found it to be creepy, and i felt as though i was always being watched. I saw a man in the window on the second floor, which really creeped me out! All in all, I don't think there are bad spirits there. A couple of years ago, some people i know snuck in to the basement and spent the night down there drinking.....anyways, they got a good scare down there, I don't really know what it was. The mansion was on national tv a few years back and the basement has a lot of cold spots, plus it gets misty, for lack of a better word, for no reason, they also caught a bunch of orbs on tape. They've fixed the roof and most of the windows, so pretty soon I bet the place will be a b&b like they planned on making it into. It'd be nice to go inside and not worry about falling thru the floor lol.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	The location is 2018 Alby Street. The map is of some location in California. My girlfriend, fiance and eventual X-wife lived 4 houses up from the McPike Mansion on Alby. Her little brother and her had visited there several times growing up. It is nothing more than a rundown old house and as Dazed Confused88 said, it was a hazard as the floors had large holes in them. It's nice to see someone is fixing it up. It's amazing how imagination and Urban Legends can effect younsters.

AnonymousVisiter L US	I am a paranormal investigator from Litchfield, Illinois. I have been to McPike Mansion on two occasions. One with the Macoupin county Ghost Hunters and one with my team. We had the run of the place for four hours on both events. You can't go into thr mansion it self but you can go into the wine cellar and the crypt area or anywhere else on the grounds. When I went there with MCGH, we were only the second group to see and record the mysterious mist that has been reported to manifest in the wine cellar. A televison camera crew and investigators were frightened away by this eery mist. Go to www.mcgh.com and see for your self. While in the crypt area, crypts are no longer there, but,the graves are. I touched a number of times by what seemed to be a child. On the second ocassion, I got an interesting EVP from the wine cellar that I am still reviewing at this time. At another point, we were walking in to the wine cellar when I felt that a team member was walking too close behind me. I turned to tell him to back off a little and, I could clearly make out his shape in the dark while walking but, there was noone there. The team member that I thought it was had not even entered the basement area at all. The team member in front of me saw it as well. We both thought it was the missing member. We waited for a few minutes discussing the event and soon the other mrmber came in. He told us he was back at the command center out side to get his flash light. McPike Mansion is for real folks. J. AnonymousVisiter	I was there back in high school I knew the owners son and he had a halloween party on the grounds of the Mcpike Mansion, well my friend and I went looking for our friend and had went into the house, there were holes everywhere on the stairs and as soon as we got upstairs we saw a man look at us and slowly cross the hallway and go into a room across the way, we thought it was our friend playing a trick on us but when we called his name out he was at the bottom of the stairs telling us to get out of the house, so needless to say the place is actually and truly haunted!
