Location Description:

A very old Cemetery, with some occasional orbs and lights. Incorrect info passed on about the Smallpox, it is haunted though. Hikers from nearby trails have seen apparitions and orbs of light. One hiker reported seeing a man in uniform standing near a gravestone, yelled to him for the time and the man disappeared. the hiker walked over and it was the grave of a WWII Veteran.

To avoid confusion of finding the Cemetary, it is where Milford St. (Route 69) and Scoville Rd. meet in Burlington.

Oh man, if you`re looking for a good place to go, this is it! I`ve been here many times, and it is always an adventure. The cemetery is very mild compared to its old settlement counterpart down the path. If you take the blue trail directly at the right of the cemetery, and hike for 20 minutes, you will come to a clearing on the left, and a hill straight down. At the bottom of the hill is where the polksville settlement was. Very strong feelings of panic, fright, and greif. Many people, myself included get very dizzy and light headed in this area, so be careful. There are also large holes in the earth, that almost resemble foundations of old houses. The smallpox myth may not be such a myth. The cemetery at the entrance of the trail is filled with mainly children, and the area of the settlement was obviously burnt down long ago —— the way settlers used to clear an area of smallpox. Past the stone wall, there is a trail to the left where a very strong native american presence can be felt. Many people have come into this area and feel as though they`ve had a blow to the head. The whole place is very creepy and worth exploring. One of the few remaining truly haunted places in CT that hasn`t been explored and exploited.

Ok, this is kinda creepy. I went biking there last summer and in the EXACT place you said the old Polkville village was, my bike chain broke and I had to walk my bike all the way back. I never knew that this was the old settlement.. That is sooo weird!!!
