First off let me start by saying I grew up on Riverdale Rd. (Route 2 Box 19 B, which is around 136th) from 1958, when I was 1, until 1974, when I was 17. In the 70's there was never a child killing cult on the road, however in the 60's there was a child kidnapped and killed out there. The only time growing up when we weren't allowed to walk to Henderson (about 3 miles taking the short cuts down the farmers irrigation roads).
As a teen nobody would give any of my brothers, sisters and myself a ride home unless they had someone with them for the trip home.
Just around the corner from 136th, headed to Brighton, in the early 70's or late 60's there was a cult killing of a bunch of dogs at an abandoned farmhouse. They skinned the dogs alive and then burned the barn they were hanging in. We lost one of our dogs that night in the incident. When the moon was full after that you could hear dogs howling but could never find them. From that point on none of us ever walked on the road at night alone. I can also tell you about the hanging tree, where the guy was hung and killed in the late 50's, the gate of hell (really just the old Gates{as in the rubber Co.} Chicken Farm), the two dead man's corners, the walking tree and the ax man corner if you are interested. I'll tell you this too, there is truly some kind of a weird presence on that road and while we were more comfortable than most out there, none of us ever wandered off at night alone...we'd go in the pasture and on 136th but never Riverdale alone at night. It is an absolutely lovely drive especially in the fall...during the day. Kind of reminds me of some strange little road out of a Stephen King novel.
From an AnonymousVisiter:
About a year ago I went to Riverdale Rd. My friends and I turned off on this dirt road that had some construction stuff on it. The road was really muddy and my car sucks, so we parked at the entrance and walked up this hill. We found the foundation for a house and there was this really bad smell. One of the guys I was with turned around and saw these dog like creatures, at least 3 of them, running across the empty field. But they were bigger than dogs, about the twice the size of a mastiff. We turned and ran back to the car.
Well.. I think I can back you up on this. A few months back this Autumn on one of several trips in attempt to prove or disprove this "haunting" claim I believe we found this same foundation. The turn off road is on the left as you're heading North past the Golf Course. We pulled off one night to check it out. The road is dirt and curves up and around to the top of a hill. At the very top we found the foundation of a house. It's possible it could have been used as a warehouse due to the fact it looked as if there was a truck loading dock to the front of it. Ontop of the foundation there looked as if there could have been an area for a kitchen due to the remnance of tile flooring. Other than a few shrubs and a side walk that indicated where the door used to be that's pretty much all there was. Anyway.. on with the paranormal events. I had a camera out as we stepped up onto the foundation. This was before I had a digital voice recorder for EVP so I was using the camera to catch sound, it was too dark too see anything anyway. As we're walking towards the center of the foundation my friend stops dead in his tracks and asks me if I "just saw that". I thought he was being his usual over dramatic self and said "no" (This is all captured on the video). He claimed to have seen a small black figure standing near what would have been the far back wall of the house that darted off as we got closer. Well.. it wasn't until I got home and was reviewing the tape I heard it. Just before he says "WOW! Did you see that?!" there is a distinct high pitch voice in the background. One of the best EVP's I've ever caught. Kinda scared me... I have not experienced anything on that road before or since. I would suggest giving this place a try to anyone. Also on a further note the same friend claimed to hear footsteps following him on the sidewalk located at the front of the house. I unfortunately cannot back his claim. Happy hunting.
I went to riverdale last night. As creepy as it looks at night with the dirt roads and the lack of housing out there, i do not believe its haunted, if you go north to where you can hear the constant beating of someone "jogging", look to your left. In the field there is an oil drum and the beating is the pistons making the oil drum go up and down. i did not see any girl on the side of the road and no heart beat which gets louder.
Hi! I have lived in Colorado for 10 years and this is the first time I have heard of this place. I don't know if I am a believer in the supernatural, but I keep an open mind. I have heard of third bridge and been there several times. It is creepy, but nothing really ever happened. I want to go check this place out though. As I love to be paralyzed with fear. I cannot go alone though and was wondering if maybe some of you would like to get a small group together and check it all out some night. Flashlights, and cameras and all that good stuff. Please email me, also does anyone have any pics or the paranormal things that went on? Thanks : )

History of Wolpert Mansion
David H. Wolpert was born in Ohio in 1883. As a young man he traveled to Iowa and Illinois for brief stays at both places. In 1859, he began moving west with the gold rush. He followed the Santa Fe Trail to New Mexico, then back up towards Pike’s Peak (probably the Colorado Springs area). Included in a party of sixteen men, Wolpert then traveled to North Park, north of Denver, to the Fairplay-Breckenridge area seeking gold. While there, the party got involved with Indians and then separated. When David Wolpert came to Denver, he built the Clayton block on Larimer Street In downtown Denver. He followed the Platte River north nine miles, and, on a piece of land he patented in the late 1850’s, he built a house in 1864. David Wolpert acquired property on paten
