Location Description:

There was a trainwreck in Flinderation RailRoad tunnel because some men were doing some work on the railroad and did not realize a train was coming, especially not as fast as it was. One of the men could not get into one of the cubbyholes in time, and the train caught him, causing it to derail. The railroad through this tunnel was shut down because people could hear train whistles and see the lights of an invisible train coming towards them. Then, the KKK also took victims there to do lynching and such. This tunnel has a lot of hidden history. Today, it is part of the RailTrail, but the train whistle can still be heard along with other various sounds: screaming, metal scraping on metal, sobbing.

Also,me and a couple of friends went to the tunnel and as we parked I seen a while object like peek out of the trees and bushes. As I was trying to tell me friend what I seen they said that they did not believe me. So,then one of my friend about 5 five minutes after witnessed the same thing. So, we left to get more people. We came back and we got a little into the tunnel and seen like a object like crawling towards us,so we ran out. The day before some friends and I made it clear to the end and right before we got to the end we seen another object crawl across the tunnel. Then after we got out of tunnel you could hear weird noice like moving of something. So,I do really think that this place is haunted.

AnonymousVisiter	Our paranormal group went there Aug. 14, 2010 about 3:00 in the afternoon. We were doing a lockdown at Trans-Alleghany Lunatic Asylum that night. I ran my recorder for about 15 minutes but didn't catch anything, my photo's showed one orb in one shot but that was it. I hope to go back sometime but we are 4 to 5 hours away near Washington DC. AnonymousVisiter ** -	me and two of my friends went to the tunnel last night and had a couple experiences ...at first we just heard sum noises like the scrapping metal ...we all ran out nd came back in and as we were standing there one of my friends saw a shadow of someone walking by the entrance of the tunnel ...and then we left a quiji board on the picnic table before the entrance and tried to mess with it it wouldnt work so we left it on the table nd asked if there were any spirits to move it as we entered the tunnel for the third time ...we were in there for about 3 minutes and once again we heard an undescribable noise and we all ran out...when we ran to the quiji board we all started freakin out b/c when we left the board the circle piece was directly on no and when we ran out the piece was moved completly off no and pointed towards yes...proved us right....so tonight were going back with some recorders and stuff so hopefully more stories...

AnonymousVisiter ** US	I live in weston wv and I was just at the flinderation tunnel on friday night and done some EVP sessions and I caught something like a train whistle and a womans slight scream and there was no women around and I caught a loud bang and a bell. My friend caught the same stuff on his voice recorder also. It is a really interesting place.

But my one friend saw a man at the end of the tunnel, and I saw a blue figure shaped as a human, leaning against the wall. And as i moved my friends flashlight to the area, the figure seemed to have went into the wall. Also we went to Dog Run last night as there is supposed to be a witch in the lake, and Lake Floyd is apparently haunted as well. And Legend has it, between the salem exit and clarksberg/bridgeport exit, on foggy nights, a girl in a red hooded sweatshirt is seen walking on highway 50, and if you pull over to ask her assistance, she walks up to your car, pulls off her hood, and she doesn't have a face

When I got in my car I looked at the sleeve on my shirt and there were two drops of something that looked like blood. I was so creeped out! My festiva has never been driven so radical in it's life!

AnonymousVisiter	Alright here are the directions: In West Virginia jump onto I-79 towards Clarksburg/Bridgeport. Take exit 119 and turn onto Highway 50 West Drive about 13.4 miles and you'll see a sign on the right that says 'Flinnderation Rd.' Turn right at the turn off immediately after that sign. Drive over the bridge. The road comes to a 'T' at the end of the bridge Turn right and drive 0.2 miles. You'll see a path on the right blocked by a brown gate. There's a little place to park there too. Walk down the path and it takes you right to the tunnel. There's a picnic bench near the entrance. The tunnel is 1086 ft long. I reccommend you find it in daylight then go back at night to inspect it. Enjoy....you all owe me for this. heh heh

The last time was in nov 09.I was useing a sony digital recorder and a cyber shot digital camera, and i got some real good pictures and evps."mist,shadows,and on the evp i asked are you the man who was killed here and when i played it back i was shocked on how clear it came out. He answered with a painful pitch to his voice "yes" i also made a statement that wasn,t true. I said "i heard that your tools that you left on the tracks is what caused the train to derail and kill you" and the answer was a vary stearn "LIERS" So with that i cant wait to go do a full blown investigation when the weather breaks . AnonymousVisiter	i agree 100% with you. i just got back from the tunnel a little bit ago. i have been there about 6 or 7 times and ive only not had something happen once!!! tonight my digital recorded magically stopped recording right before everything happend.. such as my friends emf detector maxed out and saw a red and green light come toward us. and a very clear get out we could hear with our own ears!! AnonymousVisiter ** US	I actually have a grandma that was born and raised about 1/4 of a mile from this tunnel. She always loves telling stories from the past and told me one from this location. As a girl she and her 2 brothers and 2 sisters would go along the railroad and pick up marbles from when the marble train went by. One day she took her younger brother with her to the tunnel and saw a man named Earl Moore jump in front of a train comitting suicide. She saw the body get drug along under the trail to shreds. She vividly remembers the head of him running along the front grid or grill. She also said the shreaded body was slung along the tracks for about 75 yards. And too this day she still lives nearby and remembers the story perfectly.

Flinderation Tunnel is located about 15-20 minutes "west" of Clarksburg (Harrison County). The road that you will take is Flinderation Road, of course. Once you get off of Flinderation Road you will cross a bridge and you keep right and then you drive for about 500ft or little more and you will notice in the road that it looks like train tracks ran across the road and you will see a gate on your right hand side in the middle of used to be railroad tracks and thats where you park your car. From the gate to the Tunnel is about 100yds or so back. You will see the "Lake Floyd" sign on your right. Thats the next exit on the left and then Flinderation Road is the "Next" exit on the right. If your coming West going east your will travel thru salem on Rt 50 and the exit before Flinderation Road is Raccoon Run Road. You will cross a bridge and you keep right and then you drive for about 500ft or little more and you will notice in the road that it looks like train tracks ran across the road and you will see a gate on your right hand side in the middle of used to be railroad tracks and thats where you park your car. From the gate to the Tunnel is about 100yds or so back.

AnonymousVisiter	My girlfriend and I checked out this tunnel May 30th during the day and then back again at night, and I can tell you this place has alot of activity, as we picked up evps, pictures of blue mist, orbs, and on the last evp session, you could hear what sounded like a train getting closer and closer and then quit before the end of the session. This place is definately haunted, and this is probably one of the scariest places I have been so far.

We walked up to it and went in past the first alcave and where the class of 90 was spray painted on the walls. there seamed to be a mist in the tunnel but encountered nothing unusual. as we walked out about twenty feet out my 3 year old said '' mommy theres a train coming'' we said what, and he said '' i see a train coming run. it has a light on it and it is red.'' when we got back to the car he said he saw two men with helmets with lights on them. he knows nothing about trains or anything. my 19 month old kept saying ''choo choo'' walking out of the tunnel.

My camera will take two pictures at a time within like 2-3 seconds of each other. the first picture i took had a giant orange orb in it, in the second one that was taken probably 2 seconds later it was gone. They didnt hear it at the time but when they got home and played the recordings is when they heard a womans voice say "Are you stupid?" and then one of them had asked if anyone had died in there and on the recording you can hear a voice whisper "YES!" They said that they could deff hear the sound of a train and that in one spot of the tunnel it is really cold. They are going back soon and I am going too. I cant wait. There is deff things going on in that place!

AnonymousVisiter	Went to the tunnel yesterday and some major things happened. got lots of pics..one of a lil boy,lil girl,my hair floating,an image behind my sister,and more..we heard a train and when we listened to the recordings we did we can clearly hear a woman humming,some heavy breathing,and whispering..we took temperature readings and it dropped by 10 degrees by the end of the tunnel..that tunnel without a doubt is HAUNTED..we are going back soon at night..guarantee we will get more....

AnonymousVisiter	I went last night with two of my friends and that place is without a doubt creepy. The first night we went a couple days ago I could have sworn I saw a ball of light up in the trees close to the tunnel. It went up in the trees and then back down. Last night the three of us girls saw this white misty figure inside the tunnel. I like to tell myself it could have been anything, but how is that normal? It scared us so bad we had to walk back to the car immediately. What suprised me is how calm we all stayed even though our hearts were racing...we're going back today around 3pm to see it in daylight.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	I just got back from the tunnel with my girl friend her brother and our friend Tommy we got pictured of a human walking out of the chubby holes we heard things saying get out things hittin walls and we saw a man walking slowly back and forth in the far end of the tunnel but we also ran into a group from the same area we are from but they didn't find anything like we did I have a clear picture of a mans face piping out of the ceiling ..it's a wierd place to go when its a full moon night

I think its all in your minds and I really wanted to see something.

AnonymousVisiter * US	There were 7 of us that just got back from this tunnel. We go to SIU 2 minutes down the road. As we were walking up to the tunnel we thought we saw something. Like a shadow or something but continued to walk. All 7 of us made it through the tunnel in about 15 minutes and didn't encounter any noises or anything. Then 2 of us went back through it while the other 5 walked the highway back. We walked the entire tunnel and again didn't hear and/or see anything.

AnonymousVisiter * US	i lived there in in my teens on the oppisite side of tunnel on a hill nothing i heard on any these comments does not suprise me in the least,as a kid growing up there around the later 50s through to the 70s i have exsperanced,unexplained,sounds of people,screaming at a distance,grinding steel,and often lighted silouettes of people,to be honest it was quite erie living there,felt like you were always being watch,bye something,alot people dont know this but me and my brother were exploring when we lived there as kids and theres another tunnel up above 10 to 20 feet from entrance of tunnel theres a small opening that was there,but once you crawl through and get in its anormas we only went in a 100 feet then came out,we seen where the track drifters stayed,from all the soup cans laying around old cloths,make shift fire places that was there! it was awesome.the entrance would be on the side going toward lake floyd.but all and all its the most strangest place i ever lived and left a profound mark on my life.

AnonymousVisiter OHIO US	Yes, for the 2 guys that disagree, About the happenings that people have witness in and around that tunnel, i strongly agree with the people, as also i live near that tunnel for 15 years, grew up there around the mid 60 s. does not matter in what i thought i saw,would not be,consider a sane remark,but anybody that lived there or been there,has got bad vibes from the place,but really now,look in your earlier newspapers and look at the at the newspaper articles of odd things that happen around tunnel hill you would be amazed,such as for a few,vehicles hit by trains,to a road construction pan truck that came off the top of the hill side during the building of rt 50 highway,and also many other articles take time and look and yes I am a believer.

AnonymousVisiter WEST VIRGINIA US	A few of my teammates and I went to Flinderation recently two nights in a row and had very interesting experiences. Night 1: We took the Ouija Board in and got very high activity from spirits with the name of Bill and Sally that claimed they had died in the tunnel on the railroad. We made recordings on our phone while doing this. Night 2: Walking through the tunnel several us of were touched by our necks and ears. When reaching the end of the tunnel, we looked back towards the entrance and we had two rocks thrown down at us from what seemed to be the top of the hill by the tunnel. Also, there was a rope hanging down from the top of the tunnel at the end...this was not there on night 1. We experienced temperature drop as well. The next day we listened to the recordings and the whole time we could hear chanting..probably a chant associated with the KKK. At the end of the video it gets louder and louder. We could also clearly hear something say "ha ha ha" and could see what appeared to be a train light at the end of the tunnel. When we came back on night 2 we tried using the Ouija Board again but it would not work with anyone who had went to the tunnel that night. We got two of our other teammates that didn't go with us to use it and it worked. The spirit they spoke with specifically said it did not like us because we went to the tunnel. We have had some erie things happen at the dorms since that night. We had a very interesting experience and I reccommend going if you haven't yet.
