tonite me and my two cousins drove on elfin forest road, just passing questhaven. we saw a white owl fly low, almost as if it was about to hit the roof of our car.

Also, once we took the dirt road on questhaven, our car windows all fogged up within seconds of passing the gated-area. our front windshield was so foggy we couldnt clear it with our hands, it would fog up again. the temp outside was 75. once we left the road our windows cleared up. but my friend was shaking the entire time

I have been to QuestHAven as well as to the Lake that is supposed to have some kind of creature living there that is supposed to posses people. I must say that I am not at all afraid of what I have witnesses in both places. I am actually a Hunter of Ghostsa dn at times I also Exorcise them. I am a Pagan and i follow the Ancient Tradions and I must say that I have felt the presence if Elves in Elfin Forest. As well as in other parts of QuestHaven. I Love to explore all kinds of Hauntings. I shall be going back there sometime soo as well. I will not rest until I have at least communicated with the Inhabitants of the Forest and at least have somewhat gotten rid of whatever creature likes in the Lake where a creature Possess people.

the area does kind of give off a creepy vibe, but I`ve never been able to pick up any EMF/EVP readings or recordings.

I grew up in San Marcos and Elfin Forest and Questhaven are not as creepy as the old house that was on top of the hill in the Questhaven area. It was the remnants of a two story house with 360 views to ocean and surrounding valleys. The stairs, bath tub, and sink were all made of stone. You could go on what was left of the second story for unreal views. We would have to 4x4 to get up there. We use to go up and party and it was a good place for parking as a teen. There was always a creepy feeling and about 60% of people brought up there saw something. I have tried looking up history of this house and have come up with nothing. It is now been torn so that sub-divisions may be built. We also hopped the fence into the retreat/asylum and found an old grave markers but nothing ever weird happened. The lake that is located in the Questhaven valley, actually two connecting lakes in a good water year, I have never experienced anything there and I have spent many hours fishing on the water and around the banks.

I remember that house. The stairs had no guardrail, there was a huge fireplace and a sunken stone living room, and a giant tree held up the rafters in the middle. The bathtub downstairs was stone with blue tile either in the tub or on the floor, I don't recall. There were a few pine trees growing out front. We used to ride our horses or hike up there, and explore all the old mines in the area, too.

We took pictures around the Questhaven gate at about 5:00 PM on Cinco de Mayo 2008, and the ones that we took as we were arriving had faces, but the ones we took after we'd been there awhile didn't. The wierdest one is in one that we took as we were driving up: the face of an elf hovering about 12 feet in the air directly behind the gate. It had big round eyes and an even bigger round nose, and ears that at first resemble horns until you ultimately conclude that the thing is too cute to be a demon. The founder of Questhaven is the one who gave the forest it's name, she said it was because of an "elfin" species of some kind of tree or botanical variety that grows there, but now that we've seen this thing caught on camera there's obviously a far greater motive for her to have wanted that name for the forest.

so on wednesday my friends and i went to questhaven (about 6 of us) we walked the whole trail and when we got to the gate the security guard came and he said this is private property please leave we kept asking what religion it was and he wouldnt answer a little wierd if you ask me...

Several years ago some friends took me through Elfin Forest. When we came to the abandoned house at the top of the hill I shouted for them to stop the car. I saw a woman in a white night garment walking from the house. When we stopped the car and got out, she was gone. I hadnever believed in the paranormal until that night.

i live in san marcos. i have seen a white figure several times as well as my friends. i often take pictures when i go and find many spiritual orbs in the pictures. go on the bridges that are on the left of the road..creepiest places by far

I grew up in Elfin Forest. I lived there 18 years and have pretty much been all over the area. The church that is behind the gate in Harmony Grove is not an asylum, nor was it. The people are christian/hippy types. My old middle school math teacher was married there and we all got to attend the wedding. Yes, I have been behind the gates. NOT WEIRD at all. Everyone talks about the security guards, honestly if people were hopping my gate at 2am, I'd hire someone too!! The stories of the "white lady"...well, I used to go walking at night as a teen and if she was out there, I'm sure I would have seen her. The kids from my HS used to tell me about the crazy stuff out there and I would just laugh. Down by the creek was called "spooks canyon" yet I've never seen anything spooky at all there. Another poster brought up the old house on the hill, it did have an awesome view. My friends and I would go up there and they always freaked out, I never understood why. The owl thing is a new one to me, I'd never heard that story till researching stuff tonight. Too bad the myths of crazy hauntings didn't keep the area from developing, it was an incredible place to live before all the houses and yuppies took over.

yes i see owls out there all the time i go offroading out in spooks all the them with my friends it is kinda weird some times i do beleave in parnormal actvaty but i have yet to experince any thing out of the ordanary but a few years back i did attend the waley house in old town and i did see the ghost of the lil girl in the room next to the theater( directly right when u get to the top of the stairs if any one wants to see something thats the pace to go i will never for get it and about 7 years have passed and i still belive what i saw that day

Atteberry is a gated road off Questhaven. It's about 1/2 mile from the main road, either Elfin Forest or Harmony Grove...whatever it's called at that point.

ive seen sum weird stuff up there. and felt weird stuff. people can say whatever they want but that place is pretty gnarly. my friend's sister's boyfriends' friend actually was found up there after he killed himself. he was always saying weird stuff about him having weird dreams about evil spirits pulling him up there. so i heard. i saw sum weird men in in cloaks burning an animal up there and drinkin the blood in the middle of the road. and needless to say i took off. i also have seen people in straighjackets behind the gates. and my buddy saw an indian ghost wandering the bushes. and people have seen blood in the road up there just in puddles. check it out

hey i saw the same stuff except a ghost girl opened my car door and when i saw her open it she dissapeared when it was opened. then my friend saw her in the forrest staring at us and trying to wave us into the bushes. then she vanished. later that night i went home and she was in my room when i walked in and then she vanished.

It is a pretty place to drive through during the day. I once visited a spirtualist there, and they had lots of homopathic types of living, massage therapies, etc.

The people who live/lived there were hippy type but also naturalists and healers.

Dont think there is anything spooky there unless you are searching for it on Halloween, ahhhhh!!

i went with some friends to touch the Questhaven gate one night a few years back. I did it, and on the way back to the car I heard a scream that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. i thought it was my mind playing tricks so I turned around to look up through the fence and I heard it even clearer that time. Me, and the one other friend who was ballsy enough to get out of the car, ran back into the car with our friends and took off. As soon as we were driving I rolled my window down and started hearing coyotes howling but it was loud. We stayed quiet on the drive all the way back home. It still gives me goosebumps when I think about it.

They are starting to arrest people for tresspassing on private property we saw some girls there and they said there boyfriends just got arrested and they are going to charge them under the Homeland securitys act for herrassing the people who lived there. I've been to Questhaven only once and the only thing that happened that REALLY freaked me out was what happened right when we got there. Right when we turned on the road, and stopped to talk to some cholos that were just gettin there also, the car turned off, the doors locked and the car started beeping and freakin out. Oh and this was a brand new car that had never had a single problem. After the doors locked, I asked my homie "uhh are you fuckin with me right now or what" and he looked all freaked n said "uhh no" It was a trip but that was the only thing paranormal that I believed because my friend that was with me was fakin shit and being a dork cuz she thinks shes psychic, so I didnt believe anything after that hahah

I was in spooks canyon in the 70,s. Used to horseback ride near there. Many friends saw the white lady, I never did. But, there was a garded huge iron pink gate that supposely had many paranormal believers who lived there. You could not go near it without getting chased away.

I did however get chills just go into the canyon. It was very creepy. It felt like eyes were all around you. We left very quickly.

We went back one night just because we felt brave, there was a white glow that flew by the trees. We made a quick u-turn and belined it out of there.

My friends and I went there and the only thing that happened I'd this guy chasing us down in his white truck and flashing his high beams at us no matter the speed we went he was tailing us then we finally reach the town and he jus disappears....

I'm from Escondido but I lived in harmony grove for 6 months to a year. The house was right off harmony grove rd, not far before u got to the entrance to elfin forest. I loved living there, I used to have so much fun playing in the creek and just going on adventures out there. I was in 6th grade at the time so it was in 1996/1997. One night I was watching tv in the dark and I saw something out of the corner of my eye and when I looked I saw this lady in a white gown coming down the hallway and not more than a few feet from where I was sitting I see her walk upstairs and vanish. That was my first paranormal experience and I will never forget it. A lot of odd things have happened in that house while we lived there. Like the volume going up on the tv by itself when I'm the only one home. I used to hear children laughing coming from the hallways on a regular basis it seemed. Also I would just hear strange noises late at night and I often felt like someone was watching me or in the room with me. It is kinda odd that so many people have seen this white lady apparition. What I saw sounds just like what other people have seen in the same area, makes me wonder if it's the same woman? And makes me wonder who she was and what happened to her for her to be stuck on earth.

I grew up not for from this place back in the70's and  it has ALWAYS been a wierd place. It was changing even back then with houses being built. Myself and my older sister had some things happen by the gates to Questhaven and I believe, if memory serves, Elfin forrest was a trailer/mobile home park back then. I looked for it one day so I could take my son and his friend thru there but there are so many houses now, i couldnt remember how to get there.
