Location Description:

Bordering an old ghost town, about 5 miles from church, there is a bridge. The town of Clara was established in the 1800's. Sometime in the mid 1800's there was a woman put to trial and convicted of practicing Wicca. She was burned alive on a bridge. The whole bridge is burnt but in one particular spot, there is a perfect circle burned all the way through. She can still be heard screaming at night. Febuary 2005 Update: This place is reported to no longer exist.

trollusk Last Seen: 1/16/2008 8:04:58 PM	This bridge has been torn apart and gone for a while now. Bits of it on the other hand has been used to build a small bridge at Lake Gordon in Iowa Park.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Actually, the story has nothing to do with wicca or the 1800s. I have lived in this area for 27 years. I do honestly believe that this place is haunted. Because i ended up stumbling onto this location by accident. I was driving around aimlessly in my Hyundi Accent one day bout 3 or 4 in the afternoon. i saw the old road and something made me want to explore. Like an idiot i drove my little car through the tall weeds, and got stuck next to the bridge... i got out and walked around to see if i could find a wedge for my tire. suddenly i panicked for no apparent reason like something was gonna hurt me!!! I was 25 at this time, and im pretty stout. The fear actually put me to tears! I ran to my car and eventually rocked it out. I did not tell anyone, because i was embarassed. Then a year or so later, i read a special halloween article about the location. It read," In the 1970s, a man and his wife were driving in the area, arguing over some marital issues. In the middle of a heated fight, the man swerved and drove off the side of the bridge, where he hit a large tree ,pinning his wifes knees under the dash. The man escaped the car, and hitchhiked back to the Burkburnett Police Department. Several hours later they came back to the bridge to see that fuel had been leaking and the heat from the engine and the tall brush had ignited. The woman (Sheila) was still trapped inside, and burned alive!!! The husband was not convicted, but a suspect of homicide... The large tee that was struck,was removed to clear the wreckage. And the bridge of course was burned clear through,but what of it was left,was kept in tact to allow livestock to cross the creek. Like I said, I was not on a ghost hunt when I found this place. Its a dangerous place, so be safe if you go investigate!!!

MPI out of Wichita Falls did an investigation there.All the other stories about this place have been debunked, however, this is the first time we've heard this story about a car accident. AnonymousVisiter ** US	The bridge is there. Me & some of my friends went out there. We heard screams walking back to our truck. Me & another person got touched. Also while we were walking back on both sides of us the grass was moving. There wasn't any wind that night. It was truly freaky!
